At Lady J. Interiors, we believe a kitchen should be more than a place to cook. It should hold the rhythm of everyday life, reflect the character of the home and offer a sense of quiet pleasure each time it is entered. In this project in Sant Pere de Ribes, the aim was to transform an outdated kitchen into a space that felt elegant, fluid and deeply personal.

Originally, the kitchen consisted of a space with rustic cabinets that had been repainted and a granite countertop; an outdated and a rather humble beginning for a kitchen that would one day accommodate a collection of carefully selected glassware and inherited pottery.

That contrast between the original condition and the final result captures the essence of the project. What began as a modest, somewhat tired room became a kitchen with presence — a space shaped by restraint, material richness and a calm sense of sophistication.

We worked with the existing U-shaped layout, but refined the internal organisation of the space to improve both functionality and visual balance. In the washing and cooking areas, lower cabinetry was used to create a lighter, more open feel, while the tall units were transformed into elegant vitrines for the display of treasured objects, inherited pieces and collected ceramics. The kitchen was no longer only a place of work; it became a room with memory, character and beauty.
By removing the doors and frames that separated the kitchen from the adjacent living spaces, we allowed the home to breathe more freely. This subtle architectural gesture created a more fluid circulation and a stronger visual connection between the different areas of the house. The kitchen now feels part of a larger domestic composition rather than a closed-off service space.

A palette of quiet greys
The project takes its name from the subtle layering of grey tones that define the entire scheme. Rather than relying on a single shade, we worked with a composition of materials that together create depth, texture and calm. The kitchen furniture, supplied by Santos, was selected in a matte silk fog grey finish with aluminium detailing, while the drawers were designed with a walnut interior that adds a discreet sense of warmth.
The furniture, supplied by Santos, was selected in a matte silk fog grey finish with aluminium detailing and walnut interiors, adding depth and warmth to the scheme. The worktop and backsplash were both designed in Carrara marble, whose soft veining brings movement and natural elegance to the room. The marble does not compete with the architecture; it enhances it, introducing a tactile, almost sensorial quality.
A discreet shelf above the worktop offers a place for meaningful objects, turning the kitchen into a room to enjoy as much as to use. This detail softens the traditional idea of the kitchen as purely functional and instead gives it a more layered, lived-in identity.
Light, atmosphere and warmth
Lighting was essential to the success of the project. In a kitchen like this, light does more than illuminate; it sets the tone of the whole room.
We introduced white Scandinavian-style wall lights with warm white light to gently highlight the shelf and the small pieces displayed there. Their dimmable function allows the atmosphere to shift throughout the day, from bright and practical to soft and intimate.

On the ceiling, we selected a Faro fan with integrated light and transparent blades, chosen for the way it blends into the scheme without disturbing its calm visual rhythm. In the tall cabinetry, grey aluminium and glass fronts are softly illuminated with integrated LED lighting, giving the display a refined, almost gallery-like presence.

A dining room that completes the story
The dining room, connected to the kitchen, was treated as part of the same emotional and visual composition. Warm grey walls and white ceilings create a serene backdrop, while the suspended blown-glass luminaire from Made brings a more poetic layer to the space. Its form adds colour, softness and a delicate play of shadows that evoke the sea and the light of the coast.
The result is a dining area that feels composed, welcoming and quietly expressive. Together with the kitchen, it creates a sequence of rooms that feels harmonious, elegant and very much at home.

A kitchen designed to be lived in
The final result is a kitchen that feels both functional and distinctive, shaped by natural materials, thoughtful lighting and a restrained palette that allows the architecture to speak. It is a kitchen with atmosphere — one that feels calm, tactile and full of personality.
This is the kind of transformation we seek at Lady J. Interiors: spaces that are not only beautiful, but meaningful; not only practical, but emotional; not only designed, but truly lived in.
